Everyday life, mass protests, social movements, houses and streets, continuities and upheavals, fates and feelings, and always a view of the Berlin Wall. Streets in Kreuzberg ended in front of concrete and barbed wire. The same in East Berlin, for example in Oderberger Strasse, Prenzlauer Berg. What was the photographers’ view of the divided city and its inhabitants? What changed after the fall of the Wall? What was and is important to them to photograph?
Women photographers in the right place at the right time: How has photography developed from 1989 until today? What does it mean to be a photographer today? You can talk about this with Gottfried Schenk and Harald Hauswald. They will be showing their current and historical pictures.
Present: Harald Hauswald, photographer in East Berlin, co-founder of the Ostkreuz agency, Gottfried Schenk, photographer of West Berlin’s neighborhood and subculture in conversation with Peter Wensierski, author, journalist and documentary filmmaker.
The venue is the auditorium in the main building, staircase A (3rd floor).
An event organized by Kunst-Buchhandlung Kollwitzplatz and Museum Pankow.
