  • Access to the festivities & the open-air installation is possible by bike on the designated cycle paths – you will have to push along the route. Additional bicycle parking spaces will be set up for the festivities at the following locations:
    • Futurium (under the bridge)
    • Brandenburg Gate
    • Lennéstraße
    • Checkpoint Charlie (Friedrichstraße)
    • Markgrafenstraße/Charlottenstraße
• By car:
  • We highly recommend that you avoid traveling to the event by car and instead use public transport or take your bike.

Access to the event area along the former course of the Wall between Invalidenstraße and Axel-Springer-Straße is barrier-free. Historical films with sign language interpretation will be shown on the video cubes along the route during the day.

For the Festival for Freedom on the evening of November 9, the songs will be subtitled so that everyone can sing along. There will also be sign language interpretation at the Brandenburg Gate.

On Friday 8 November and Saturday 9 November from 8 am to 10 pm on both days.

The open-air installation, including a historical exhibition and multimedia offerings, can be experienced on November 8-9, 2024. On 9 November, there will also be a varied program along the route. In the evening, the Festival for Freedom will be celebrated from 8 pm. On November 10, part of the open-air installation will be shown on the Campus of Democracy at the former headquarters .

No, the event and the open-air program along the route are free of charge.

On Saturday 9 November there will be a variety of events at several locations along the route, including music, talks, interviews, performances, karaoke and staged readings. On that evening, starting at 8 pm, the Fest für Freiheit (Festival for Freedom) will take place featuring a performance by the Band für Freiheit (Band for Freedom). More detailed information about the event programme can be found here under festivities on 8 & 9 November.

There will be three “Info points” set up along the route: one each at the Futurium, Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie. When you visit one of these Info points, you’ll be able to pick up a guide with a map and information on the various events. The programme will also be listed in detail at each of these locations. Our own information staff will also be present at various points along the route. They will be happy to provide you with information and answer any questions you might have.

Along the route at the three locations at the info points, via mobile distribution teams and at the additional book boxes, where you can get the book for the anniversary free of charge. A detailed list of the distribution points and respective opening hours on November 8 and 9 can be found on the book page and from November 10, 2024 also at the Campus for Democracy at the former Stasi headquarters!

Yes, the book is available in an English edition as well.

The exhibition is divided up into seven sections, each oriented towards a specific theme: Opposition & Protest, Revolutions in Eastern Europe, Escape & Emigration, Media & The Public Eye, Demonstrations & Participation, The Fall of the Wall, and Democracy & Unification. Each section is found at a different location along the path of the open-air installation.

Yes, in addition to the existing pubic restaurants, snack bars, cafés and supermarkets along the route, there will be a few additional food and drinks stands: Friday 8 November: from 2 pm to 10 pm and Saturday 9 November from 12 noon to 10 pm

We expect a large number of people to attend the events on 8 & 9 November, so we ask that you refrain from bringing any bulky items or sharp objects. We recommend that you bring a reusable drinking bottle or two.

We look forward to your visit with children. Please note that there may be large gatherings of people and therefore the use of baby carriages may be more difficult. Please also take a look at the special children’s program in the children’s tent on Ebertstraße.

Yes, just like in any other public space, you are permitted to take photos and videos for private use. Please note: We would be delighted if you decided to share your photos and videos with us using the hashtag #mauerfall35 and #haltetdiefreiheithoch!
Please also note that photos and videos will be taken during the event.

Information on all road closures and blocked-off streets can be found here (in German language only). We informed local residents in advance about any closures that would impact their areas.

Along the route, you can contact mobile teams and staff at the Info points if you have any questions or problems. There are also QR codes at the Info points and book boxes that you can use to contact a specially trained awareness team. The team can provide preventative help or first aid in the event of an assault.

We want all visitors to have an experience free from discrimination in any form and aggressive or disrespectful behavior. We stand for open, tolerant and respectful interaction with one another. Violations will not be tolerated and may lead to exclusion from the event. The instructions of the organizers and security personnel must be followed.
